Inside the app
What is inside
The apps a hair salon runs on, and what each does for the day.
Bookings by chair
Each service is an appointment type that books a styling or braiding chair for as long as the service takes.
Booking statuses
Each booking is marked booked, checked in, no show or cancelled, so the day's schedule shows who actually came.
Checkout by the stylist
Stylists and braiders sign in to the till and charge the services of the visit and any product on one order.
Loyalty points
A loyalty programme gives clients points on each paid order, kept on their card with the history of every visit.
Retail and reordering
Hair care products are sold from stock, and a minimum and maximum per product put low shelves on the replenishment list.
Staff rota
Shifts by role show which stylists, braiders and receptionists are in each day.
Skills and levels
Each person's skills and level, from cutting and colour to braids and locs, are kept on their employee record.
Sales by stylist
The sales analysis splits the takings by the person who rang up each order and by category.

Purchase - Step 6

Each day's closing posts the takings and the VAT to accounting.
Accounting
One order for the whole visit
The stylist who did the work charges every service of the visit, and any product the client takes home, on one order.

A scalp treatment, a blow-dry and an oil
Tracy Muthama had a scalp care treatment and a brush blow-dry, then took a rosemary mint oil home: KES 8,800 rung up by her stylist.

A day at the till
Tuesday at the till: each visit charged by the stylist or braider who did it, and walk-in product sales with no customer name.
Explore Point of Sale →Points on every visit
The till adds points to the client's loyalty card with every paid order, and a reward takes money off a later visit.

The salon loyalty card

Apps a hair salon draws on.
In your country
Your currency, payments and taxes
Set to the country the salon trades in.
Company currency
Service prices, retail prices and the daily takings are kept in the currency of the company; the demo salon trades in KES.
Prices with tax included
A tax can be included in the price, so the till charges the menu price and works the VAT out of it; the demo follows a Kenyan example.
Mobile money, card and cash
Each till has its own payment methods; the demo salon till takes M-Pesa, card and cash.
Accounting by country
Accounting packages for more than 100 countries set up the chart of accounts, the taxes and the tax report.

Questions
Questions about Hair Salon
Not covered here? Contact us.
Can we book services by chair instead of by stylist?
Yes. An appointment type can be scheduled on resources such as styling chairs or braiding chairs, and the bookings schedule shows each chair's day hour by hour.
Can a four-hour braiding service block the chair for the whole time?
Yes. Each appointment type has its own duration, so knotless braids booked for four hours hold the braiding chair from start to finish.
How do we record clients who do not turn up?
Each booking has a status. It can be checked in when the client arrives, marked as a no-show, or cancelled, and the reporting shows bookings by service and status.
Can we see sales by stylist?
Yes. Staff sign in to the till, each order records who rang it up, and the sales analysis groups the takings by that person and by category.
Do clients earn loyalty points at the till?
Yes. A loyalty programme on the till adds points to the client's card with each paid order, and a reward such as money off can be used once the card has enough points.
Does the salon know when to reorder hair care products?
Yes. Each product can have a minimum and a maximum quantity. When stock falls below the minimum, the replenishment list shows the quantity to order from the distributor.
